Parents Teacher Association
The Parents Teachers' Association (PTA) of Najath College of Science & Technology, Karuvarakundu
, plays a vital role in supporting the institution’s activities. The PTA makes a significant contribution to the holistic development of students by providing financial assistance and other forms of support for curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular initiatives.
Aims and Objectives
- Foster positive relationships among teachers, students, staff, and parents/guardians, thereby building a strong partnership.
- Ensure high academic standards and facilitate the smooth functioning of the college.
- Assist the college in instituting scholarship schemes, infrastructural facilities, and other student welfare measures.
The PTA functions through a two-tier structure:
- General Body – comprising all faculty members and parents/guardians.
- Executive Committee – elected representatives from the General Body.
The General Body convenes annually, while the Executive Committee meets periodically to carry out its responsibilities.
Powers and Responsibilities of the General Body
- Approve rules and regulations for fund collection, scholarships, prizes, and awards proposed by the Executive Committee.
- Approve the annual report of the association.
- Approve audited statements of accounts for the current year submitted by the Executive Committee.
- Approve amendments to rules and regulations proposed by the Executive Committee.
- Elect office bearers of the association for the upcoming year during the annual meeting.
- Approve the budget for the forthcoming year as proposed by the Executive Committee.
- Suggest measures for improving academic standards and infrastructural facilities, and highlight shortcomings, if any, in the administration or functioning of the PTA.
Executive Committee Structure
The administrative authority of the PTA rests with the Executive Committee, which consists of:
- President: The Principal or faculty member in charge of the Principal.
- Vice-President: A parent (not guardian) elected from the General Body.
- Secretary: A permanent teacher elected from among the approved regular teaching staff.
- Joint Secretary: A parent elected from the General Body.
- Treasurer: A permanent teacher elected from among the approved regular teaching staff.
- Members:
- Up to four parents (not guardians) from the General Body, with at least one-woman representative.
- Up to four teachers, with at least one-woman representative.
