The University Grants Commission has reiterated the ban on the ragging of learners in Institutions of Higher Education as per the guidelines of UGC under the Act of 1956, which is modified as UGC regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009. The learners admitted in the NCST are therefore directed to strictly desist from any kind of ragging on the college premises. Ragging is considered a serious offence, and there are legal consequences involved. If any incidents of ragging or involvement in ragging are reported to the authorities, they will take strict action against those responsible. The authorities will consider the recommendations of the anti-ragging committee and decide on appropriate punishments for those found guilty. Students involved will be given a chance to explain themselves, but if their explanation is unsatisfactory, they may face severe consequences, including expulsion from the institution. The main objective of the anti-ragging cell is to provide a safe and secure environment for all the students and to ensure that there is no physical, emotional, or mental harm inflicted on anyone using ragging. The cell works closely with the management, staff, and students to create awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to promote a healthy and positive atmosphere on campus. It also investigates any complaints related to ragging and takes strict action against the perpetrators.
